"Sister Republics: Building Bridges - An Action Plan for Women's Leadership" on Wednesday, March 7, focused on bringing women leaders in the United States and Switzerland together to find practical solutions to common issues surrounding gender equality in the workplace. The conference featured the release of the report "Gender Equality in Employment: Policies and Practices in Switzerland and the U.S." and the award of the "Women and Children First Award" to Swiss women's advocate Ruth-Gaby Vermot-Mangold for highlighting the women who work to solve conflicts around the world. The event was hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland and made possible by generous support from Swiss companies SwissRe, Novartis, Zurich Financial, Nagra, as well as the Federal Bernerhof.
